Auckland Marathon 2026: sort transport before race morning
Auckland Marathon is set for 1 November 2026. Check charter bookings and public-transport details early, especially if starting the marathon in Devonport.
Auckland Marathon is scheduled for 1 November 2026. For full-marathon entrants, getting to the Devonport start deserves as much attention as choosing what to wear.
The start and finish are different places
The full marathon runs from Devonport to Victoria Park. Check the organiser’s transport page for the service that suits your start point and distance rather than assuming an ordinary journey will work on race morning.
The organiser says charter tickets must be bought in advance and AT HOP cards are not accepted on those charters. Its listed charter-sales deadline is 5pm on 25 October, unless services sell out earlier.
Separate charters from public transport
The event information also describes included travel on Auckland Transport trains and buses using a race bib until 4pm on race day. That arrangement excludes ferries.
Our suggestion is to save the specific departure, boarding point and backup plan you intend to use. Check for updates close to the day.
Pack for the journey after the run
Think about how you’ll get spare clothing and other essentials at the finish, following the organiser’s bag arrangements. Agree a clear meeting point with anyone collecting you.
If you need a replacement bag or layer, our used-gear buying guide helps with the condition check. Transport and event instructions still need to come from the organiser.
