Refund policy

Returns and refunds – ReGear

ReGear is a New Zealand retailer of mostly one-off, second-hand outdoor gear. We photograph the actual item being sold and describe its visible condition, including known wear or faults where these can be identified.

This policy includes ReGear's voluntary return option for fit and explains your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. Our voluntary policy does not limit any rights or remedies you have under New Zealand law.

Returns when an item does not fit

If an item does not fit, you may ask to return it under ReGear's voluntary fit-return policy.

  • Contact ReGear within 7 calendar days of delivery or collection.

  • The item may be tried on indoors only as reasonably needed to check the fit.

  • It must be returned in the same condition in which it was supplied: unwashed, unaltered, undamaged and without new wear, marks, odours or missing parts.

  • Return all items, accessories, labels and packaging that were supplied with it.

  • The customer pays the return delivery cost for a fit return. The original delivery charge is not refundable unless required by law.

Please do not send an item back until ReGear has confirmed the return instructions.

Change-of-mind returns

ReGear does not otherwise offer returns simply because you change your mind. This does not affect the fit-return option above or your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act.

Faulty, damaged or incorrectly described items

If an item is faulty, arrives damaged, is not as described, or otherwise does not meet a guarantee under the Consumer Guarantees Act, contact ReGear as soon as reasonably possible. Include your order number, a clear explanation and photos where they help show the issue.

Depending on the circumstances and the law, the available remedy may be a repair, replacement or refund. Where you have the right to reject goods because of a substantial failure, you may choose a refund or a replacement if a replacement is reasonably available. A refund required by law will be made to the original payment method rather than issued only as store credit.

Where the Consumer Guarantees Act requires ReGear to meet reasonable return-delivery costs, ReGear will do so. Contact us before arranging return delivery so that the appropriate method can be confirmed.

Second-hand condition and disclosed faults

Normal second-hand wear, or a fault that was clearly disclosed before purchase, is not by itself a reason for a remedy. However, second-hand goods sold by a business are still covered by the Consumer Guarantees Act, taking into account factors such as the item's age, price, description and disclosed condition.

Nothing in this policy excludes or limits a remedy that you are entitled to under New Zealand law.
