ReGear respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and share information when you visit www.regear.net.nz, contact us or place an order.

Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with ReGear, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing details, order information, messages submitted through forms, and information needed to provide customer support.

Our website may also collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, cookies and analytics data.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • process and deliver orders;
  • respond to enquiries and provide customer support;
  • operate, secure and improve our website and services;
  • prevent fraud, misuse and security incidents;
  • send marketing messages where you have chosen to receive them; and
  • meet our legal and accounting obligations.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and analytics tools to operate the store, remember preferences, understand website use and measure performance. You can control cookies through your browser settings, although some store features may not work correctly without essential cookies.

Service providers

We use trusted providers to run our store and business, including Shopify for ecommerce hosting, payment providers, delivery services, analytics tools and advertising platforms such as Google and Meta. These providers may process information as needed to supply their services and may operate outside New Zealand.

Sell Your Gear estimator

When you use the Sell Your Gear estimator, we collect the photos you choose to upload, optional item details and the automated assessment and indicative price range created from that information. Your name and email address are required only when you choose to send one or more saved items to ReGear for review. Marketing consent is separate and optional.

We use the photos and item details to identify the gear, assess visible condition, check relevant resale-market information and calculate an indicative ReGear purchase range. Seller-entered information is treated as a helpful hint and may be corrected where the photographic evidence indicates a different brand, model or condition.

Uploaded estimate photos are securely processed by OpenAI on ReGear's behalf. They may be processed outside New Zealand in accordance with the provider's privacy and security terms. ReGear configures the estimate request not to store the model response with OpenAI.

Photos used only to calculate an estimate are not added to ReGear's permanent photo storage. If you save an item before submitting it, your browser may keep that draft and its photos on your device for up to 24 hours. When you submit selected gear to ReGear, the photos, contact details and assessment are stored in ReGear's private seller dashboard so we can review the item and contact you.

We retain submitted seller information and photos only for as long as reasonably needed to assess the gear, communicate with you, keep appropriate business records, resolve disputes and improve the accuracy of future estimates. You can ask us to access, correct or delete seller-submission information by contacting us at the address below, subject to any information we must retain by law.

Sharing and retention

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where needed to operate the store, complete an order, comply with the law, or protect ReGear, our customers and others. We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for these purposes.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure. No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure.

Your choices and rights

You may ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in the message. You may also contact us with a privacy question or complaint.
