Kepler Challenge’s website lists the 2026 event as sold out. The event is scheduled for 5 December, this update is for confirmed runners and supporters.

Put Friday in the plan

The organiser’s event-weekend information places registration on Friday 4 December, from noon to 6pm at the RealNZ Events Centre in Te Anau. It tells runners to bring their compulsory gear.

Check the full instructions for your event, including briefings and any updated arrangements. Planning to arrive only on race morning could miss an important requirement.

Use the actual compulsory list

Our suggestion is to lay out the gear you intend to bring well before travelling. Compare each item with the organiser’s current requirements, including any specifications, rather than relying on a checklist from a previous year.

Check the condition and fit of every item. A jacket or pack that has been sitting in storage deserves another look, even if it worked at an earlier event.

Give replacements a trial

If something needs replacing, leave enough time to use it on a suitable outing. A new-to-you item may carry differently or fit differently once the full load is inside.

Our second-hand gear checklist can help with inspection. Follow the organiser’s process for entry questions; don’t assume a privately offered place can be transferred.
